All the symptoms pointed to EGR valve. This did indeed need doing, as it was gunged up, so the garage replaced it and also the glow plugs. Now, when warm, the van runs better than ever, but when I first start it, there is no power at all - it runs but won't go up hills. Sometimes struggles to start, I have to keep engine idling for ages, or run up and down the main level road until power kicks in.
Three garages have admitted they don't know what to do next. Diagnostics shows a fault with the air flow meter but there isn't one in this model. The costs have wiped me out Any ideas???? I'm at my wits end! Tags: None.All the pulleys look ok and seem to be in line, but this is a pain, any ideas??
Cheers Colin. Watch the alignment. Also see if all the pulleys are turning true and, when the belt is off that all the pulleys except the crank pulley are free to turn.
Is the PAS fluid overfilled. There should be a line on the canister or maybe a dipstick if metal cannister. Just reread your post. By "eats" do you mean they are worn through. If so it will be a seized pulley. If so, it's surprising it isn't squealing.
No the belt is ribbed and it shreds it off in lines making it narrower and narrower till it snaps, and the canister can be almost empty of fluid and it will still push it out of the top??? Does the belt drive the PAS pump? Perhaps both faults are linked somehow - maybe the pump is giving up the ghost???
Perhaps when you replace the belt next, give the PAS pump a good inspection, check for play in the pump bearings, no tight spots, stuff like that I'm sure you will have checked but does the number of ribs on your belt match all the relevant pulleys? I ask as I have just replaced the power steering pump and alternator on my trafic and there were options. The same power steering pump for example had 6 different options of pulley!!! There were 6 options of alternator, 3 different amp ratings with 2 options of pulley each.
Stu's point about the pump is also a good one, very common failures on the trafic so the master may be similar, from friends experiences 50k is good out of one. Daca vrem sa facem o revizie pentru un Renault Master nu trebuie decat la vorbim cu cei de la Renaul Pro Plus si sa cadem de acord la o anume zi si la o anume ora.
